With the high-profile of two Telugu states Chief Ministers on Saturday in Hyderabad, the rapport between them revealed once again, as Revanth Reddy as a former TDP MLA was known to be encouraged by Chandrababu Naidu politically.
Many believe that Revanth’s journey from joining Congress to getting coveted TPCC President position and later becoming Telangana Chief Minister, ignoring claims of several senior Congress leaders has `hidden’ support from Naidu
At a time, Revanth Reddy is struggling hard to win the confidence of Congress seniors and still he is seen as `out-sider; by many in the party, this meeting is likely to lead to more political troubles for him. Moreover, a week ago Revanth Reddy himself admitted with the media in New Delhi that growth of TDP would be detrimental to the strength of Congress in Telangana.
He said in clear terms that TDP decision not to contest in recent assembly elections helped Congress to improve strength. Further, he added that had TDP contested in these polls that would get about 10 percent votes, which would automatically alter the number game of winning seats by various parties.
In a way, he expressed the popular view that TDP’s strong presence might prevent the emergence of Congress returning to power after a decade. In this background, TDP cadres resorting to extending grand welcome to Chandrababu Naidu at Airport, on this return from New Delhi and also taking him in a massive rally from his residence to TDP office, besides large number of yellow cut-outs all over the city, naturally creating uproar among Congress circles.
Moreover, Chandrababu asserted that the TDP would regain its past glory in Telangana and accordingly, a complete restructuring of the party would be taken up. “We have been in opposition for 20 years. Should the Telugu Desam Party work in Telangana or not? TDP was born in Telangana gadda, should it continue here or not?” he asked the party workers at NTR Trust Bhavan here on Sunday.
TDP is claiming that despite many leaders quitting the party, there are workers who held on to the party flag in Telangana. “The party will be restructured shortly. The youth and educated would be given priority and this foundation should produce quality leadership for the next 30 years”, he added.
Naidu declared that a different political policy will be adopted for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Special interest will be taken to develop Telugu Desam in Telangana, he said. Earlier also on many occasions Chandrababu said similar words with Telangana TDP leaders. But he hardly moved ahead due to prevailing political constraints in Andhra Pradesh.
Now, a big question is whether Chandrababu is really serious about making TDP as a force to be reckoned with in Telangana? If so, that will naturally send a `wrong signals’ to the hold of Revanth Reddy within the Congress party.
