Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is said to be actively considering to cancel the controversial agreement signed with SECI for solar power purchase from Adani Energy during YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime.

As in the recent US Court’s indictment against Gautam Adani and others it was alleged in the total bribes offered by Adani group for solar power agreements for five state governments, over 85 percent, Rs 1750 crore was only to Jagan’s regime. As this has been creating uproar all over the country, Chandrababu Naidu is reportedly moving fast towards cancelation of the agreement.

The indication was given by Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav stating that this controversial agreement will be canceled. This was reported by international news agency Reuters, which said that the Andhra Pradesh government files are being reviewed to explore the possibilities of canceling the power supply agreement linked to the Adani Group.

Payyavula Keshav told Reuters that the government is digging up all the internal files related to this agreement, which was previously signed during the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress regime. He said that there is a possibility of canceling the contract. They will also consider what to do after that. He told Reuters that the government is closely monitoring this issue.

The TDP is alleging that former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy had received bribes of Rs. 1750 crore in the deal signed for solar power supply during the previous YSRCP government in AP. In such a situation, the opposition is questioning why the deal signed with Adani Energy by the Jagan government in the past is not being cancelled?

The YSRCP is questioning Chandrababu Naidu whether he has the guts to go one step further and cancel the deal. Meanwhile, PCC Chief Sharmila also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister that doubts will arise against him if he did not cancel this deal.

Moreover, after neighbouring Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy returning Rs 100 crore donation to Gautam Adani, now Chandrababu Naidu is also facing pressure within the state to act against Jagan’s controversial agreement with Adani group.
