Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that the future of the country and the state depends on electricity and everything from household appliances to vehicles is going to become electrical. He said that an investment of Rs. 10 lakh crores will come in the electricity sector in the next five years and 7.5 lakh people will get jobs.
The inauguration of the Urjaveer program organized by the Central Power Department, the State Government and Energy Efficiency Services Limited was held in Poranki, Krishna District. CM Chandrababu participated in this program along with Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
The CM revealed that the path to the progress of the state can be paved by saving electricity, and for that, the Urjaveer program has been made available. He said that the per capita electricity consumption in the state is a symbol of per capita income. He said that we have the credit of initiating reforms in the electricity sector for the first time in the country in 1998.
He said that by 2004, we were saving electricity consumption and if we save one unit, it is as if we have produced 2 units. He said that 12,000 people have registered for Urjaveer online in just a week, and they can earn up to Rs. 15,000 extra per month while doing their jobs.
CM Chandrababu revealed that induction stoves, cookers and cooking equipment have been provided to 55,607 Anganwadis in the state in 2 months. He said that using these can save 30 percent of electricity.
He said that solar power panels should be installed in every house and farm in the state and then there will be no electricity bills forever. The Chief Minister said that a university will be set up specifically for research in the field of electricity in the state.
He said that the use of electric vehicles is going to increase significantly, which is why it has been decided to set up at least 5,000 charging stations every 30 kilometers in the state. He deplored that the electricity sector has been completely thrown into crisis in the last five years and electricity bills have been increased indiscriminately.
Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that it will not only provide better electrical appliances but also bring economic opportunities to lakhs of people. He said that it will be key in reducing the burden of electricity bills. He explained that we are moving towards the goal of including India in the list of developed countries by 2047 and programs like Urjaveer will help in this.
