Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu held a press conference in Vijayawada, where he sharply criticized Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the Sakshi newspaper.
Chandrababu stated, “From the first day of the floods, I have observed that no party in my political career has conducted such antics.” He accused Sakshi newspaper of spreading negativity from day one, claiming they have continuously published inflammatory content. He asserted that those who display such animosity towards the public are unfit to be in public life or political parties.
Responding to recent damage to the Prakasam Barrage, Chandrababu raised concerns about whether YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) members might have been involved. He questioned whether these incidents were part of a larger conspiracy to destabilize the government, emphasizing that he would not make accusations without evidence.
He detailed the damage caused by powerful boats made of metal, which collided with the barrage gates, causing significant damage. Chandrababu remarked on the mysterious nature of the boats’ origins and purpose, expressing his confusion over the situation.
Chandrababu also revealed that a preliminary report on the floods has been sent to the central government today. The report outlines the extent of damage and requests ₹6,880 crore in aid. He expressed hope that the central government would review the report and expedite the release of funds.
Additionally, Chandrababu announced that three bunds in Budameru have been repaired, describing it as a positive outcome. He acknowledged the efforts of Irrigation Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa and Human Resources Minister Nara Lokesh in overseeing the repair work and framed it as a significant corrective measure in the face of historical errors.
