Chandrababu Objects Interviews For IAS Confirmation

Thursday, November 21, 2024

TDP chief and former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has expressed his anger hurried attempts of YS Jaganmohan Reddy government to conduct interviews for selection of officers to confirm IAS before counting of votes on June 4, so that officers close to the ruling party may be benefited.

As now election code is in force, Chandrababu Naidu in a letter to the UPSC Chairman asked not to conduct such interviews during this period and may be conducted only after June 4. He cautioned that it would amount to violation of Model Code of Conduct.

He alleged that violating Code and rules, Chief Secretary Jawahar Reddy sent proposals to conduct interviews hurriedly and also only proposed names of officers working in Chief Minister’s Office and without giving information for other eligible officers to apply for it.

Everyone was amazed to know that the list that he sent was only those in the CMO. The conspiracy came to light when the UPSC wrote a letter stating that the examination for their selection could not be conducted till June 4 due to the existing election code.

Chandrababu mentioned in his letter that the list was not prepared as per the rules. It is alleged that the list was prepared for promotion without following proper procedures.  He criticized the government for hastily taking up this selection process in view of the election results coming on June 4.

Chandrababu asked the UPSC chairman to re-examine the list made without transparency. He  has requested that the issue of promotions be taken up after June 7. In this regard, Chandrababu has sent copies of the letter to the Personnel and Training Secretary, the Central Election Commission and the Principal Secretary of the Election Commission.
