AMARAVATI: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu held a teleconference on Tuesday with MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and grassroots workers to review the party’s ongoing membership drive.
Speaking on the occasion, Chandrababu announced that the TDP had achieved a significant milestone, enrolling 76.89 lakh members across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He credited this success to the collective efforts of the party’s leadership and cadre, emphasizing the trust and confidence people have in the party.
Chandrababu pointed out that one in four individuals expresses interest in joining the TDP, highlighting its robust cadre strength, which he claimed is unmatched by any political party in the country.
The Chief Minister revealed that ₹1.35 crore had been spent on party worker welfare through a dedicated fund. He also stated that TDP is the only political party offering ₹5 lakh insurance for a nominal ₹100 membership fee. He noted that 685 individuals had opted for lifetime membership, with the funds utilized exclusively for worker welfare.
Constituencies like Mangalagiri, represented by Nara Lokesh, topped the list for lifetime memberships, followed by Gangadhara Nellore and Pedakurapadu with 71%, 38%, and 37% membership registration rates, respectively.
Chandrababu directed party workers to complete the membership drive by December 30 and assured that ID cards would soon be distributed to members. He also warned against anti-party activities, stating that those tarnishing the party’s reputation would face strict action.
