Chandrababu Expresses Concern Over AP’s Financial State, Pledges Welfare Scheme Implementation

Tuesday, January 28, 2025
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu has expressed concerns about the state’s financial condition, criticizing the previous YSRCP regime for pushing the economy into a state he described as worse than Bihar’s. He pointed out that the central government had provided funds for major projects like the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Amaravati, and the Polavaram project. Chandrababu assured that the government would implement welfare schemes without delay if sufficient funds were available, while clarifying that central funds cannot be diverted for other purposes.
“I dislike breaking promises and want to be honest with the public about the financial realities. While the situation is challenging, we will resume welfare schemes once the finances improve,” Chandrababu stated. He emphasized his commitment to fulfilling promises, saying, “Even if borrowing is required, we will implement programs like ‘Talli Ki Vandanam’ and ‘Annadata Sukhibhava.’”
The Chief Minister also criticized the loss of five crucial years under the previous administration, claiming that Andhra Pradesh could have seen significant economic growth if the development rate from 2019 had continued. He highlighted the state’s current debt burden of ₹9.5 lakh crore, along with mounting interest obligations, as a significant challenge.
Despite these difficulties, Chandrababu noted that efforts are underway to bring systems back on track and reiterated his government’s commitment to prioritizing welfare schemes without compromise.
