Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has decided to provide a prime place for women to transform them as entrepreneurs in his mission of `One Family- One Entrepreneur’ by giving priority to self-help groups. He suggested that steps be taken to grow self-help groups as MSMEs and register them as MSMEs so as to gain benefit from various central schemes.
The CM held a review meeting with the officials of the Chief Minister’s Office, SERP and MEPMA in his office in the Secretariat and made suggestions. He instructed the officials of the SERP and MEPMA to ensure that the self-help groups in the state achieve financial progress in line with the goal of ‘One Family-One Entrepreneur’.
For this, he suggested that all SHGs should be divided into five categories based on their income. The group earning less than Rs. 1 lakh per year should be classified as ‘non-lakhpati’, the group earning between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 10 lakhs as ‘lakhpati’, the group earning above Rs. 10 lakhs as ‘micro’, the group earning more than Rs. 50 lakhs as ‘small’, and the group earning more than Rs. 1 crore as ‘medium’.
He also said that income details should be provided by agriculture, industry and the service sector. Chandrababu ordered the expediting of the process of registering self-help groups as MSMEs. He said that in this way, the respective groups would benefit from the incentives provided by the central government under various schemes.
He said that at least one lakh MSME registrations should be done in this financial year. He suggested that awareness should be created so that self-help groups can take advantage of the Drone Didi scheme. He also said that self-help group members should be trained to use these e-commerce platforms and become financially strong.
He directed that the per capita income of SHG members be much lower than the per capita income of the state, and that attention should be paid to this and ideas should be given to improving their income sources.
