As soon as returning to power, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been mainly concentrating on his twin priorities Amaravati Capital and Polavaram project. He has instructed L&T construction company, which was assigned some construction works during his previous regime, to restore those activities immediately.
The Chief Minister has started to personally meet each construction company, which were earlier assigned key construction works in the capital works and exploring scope for continuing those works, which were stalled during YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime.
In his first such meeting with L&T representatives, he enquired about problems they faced during the last five years and how to restart those works.
L&T has undertaken the construction of the Amaravati Government Complex (AGC) along with employee residences. Among these, the YSP government stopped the work while the residences of the employees were almost being completed.
Some other important works were also done by Shapoorji Pallonji, NCC and Megha. He asked them how far previously they have completed the work? What should the government do to resume work? He also asked about pending bills and financial commitment and other related issues.
Responding to this, the representatives of the L&T company said that they had some funds pending in the past, some machines were abandoned and some damage was done to their machines. It is learned that they said that they have no objection to completing pending works, but requested to see that the bills are cleared immediately.
Asking them to start work as soon as possible, Chandrababu assured them that he would discuss other issues with the authorities and see to it that there are no problems.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav while attending the GST Council meeting in New Delhi urged union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to allocate Rs 15,000 crore for the Amaravati capital in the forthcoming union budget.
Municipal Administration Minister Dr P Adinarayana said that they have been preparing a comprehensive action plan for the completion of Amaravati capital works within two and half years.
