Wednesday, September 18, 2024

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has once again made it clear that he will conduct an investigation with the CID on the large-scale liquor scam committed in the previous government in the Excise Department. As a decision has already been taken on this matter, the officials have been ordered to seize all the files on the transactions that have taken place in the last 5 years.

Preliminary observations revealed the illegal liquor scam was at an unexpected level. So, it was directed to hand over all details related to liquor transactions to the CID. The Chief Minister made it clear that the poor quality liquor which kills people can no longer be seen in the state. Referring to his election promise, he said poor quality liquor should be eliminated from the state so that to protect the health of the people.

He said that the previous government had increased the rates diagonally and robbed the poor and many people could not afford the current prices of alcohol and spoiled their health by drinking ganja, adulterated alcohol and natusara. The Chief Minister said that liquor prices should come down as increased prices have further ruined the lives of the poor.

He made it clear that the policy of robbing the poor by increasing the rates should be stopped. Chandrababu said that a new liquor policy was ordered to be formulated after a comprehensive study. For this, it was directed to examine the procedures followed in other states and prepare reports.

Chief Minister Chandrababu ordered that liquor from neighboring states does not enter our state. In the case of ganja too, it was ordered to be iron-footed. CM Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that the liquor policy should be done in a way that there is no possibility of manipulation, rather than revenue.

The AP government has decided to implement the new liquor policy from October 1. As part of this, it has formed four special teams with excise officials to study the liquor policies in the states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
