Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reacting towards figuring the name of former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy prominently in Gautam Adani’s US indictment case, admitted it is a damage to `AP Brand Image’.
Responding to to some NDA members demanding action against the former chief minister , Chandrababu said the allegations against the previous YSRCP government have hurt the brand image of Andhra Pradesh “It is sad. Our prestige has been hurt,” he added.
However, he assured that the state government is in possession of the indictment reports and assured that action would be taken against any irregularities.“I have all the reports of the indictment filed in the US. We will study them and take action accordingly. We will inform what action we will take,’’ he said in the Assembly.
Chandrababu recalled that ever since his Telugu Desam Party-led NDA government came to power, it has been discussing alleged corruption during the YSRCP regime from 2019 to 2024.
BJP Legislature Party Leader Vishnu Kumar Raju deplored that YS Jagan’s name has now spread abroad and that his name has become known worldwide. He alleged that all the sources of corruption point to the previous government and that large-scale irregularities have also taken place in Rushikonda and Gangavaram ports.
He questioned why Gangavaram shares were given for Rs 651 crore. He alleged that lands worth at least Rs 2,000 crore were tied up. He said that there were allegations of taking money in power contracts and that a special ministry should be set up to deal with the scams committed by Jagan in the last five years.
He was furious that corruption and irregularities have now spread abroad beyond the state and the country. Raju expressed his anger that Jagan has ruined the reputation of the state government in the international market.
Rajamahendravaram Rural MLA Butchaiah Chowdhury said that Rs. 1750 crores is a small amount for a person who has looted Rs.60,000 and is in ED cases. He alleged that a huge loot was planned through power purchase agreements. He criticized that the Gangavaram port run by a Telugu was illegally tied up with Adani.
He accused former Chief Minister Jagan of taking corruption to its peak and putting up iron barricades at his residence at government expense. He said that they want an investigation into the crimes and irregularities committed by Jagan.
Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy questioned how many thousands of crores of bribes former CM Jaganmohan Reddy took for all the contracts signed during the YSRCP government? He commented that Jagan is a global star in corruption. He was furious that corruption had reached international levels. He congratulated Jagan on his elevation from the CBI to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
