It has become quite normal for the AP Government and its Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy to get brickbats from Central Government and Judiciary systems regarding its administration. Another day, another issue floated up by the Centre on AP Govt’s implementations of Prime Minister’s schemes and misusing of funds.
Going into the details, Centre has allocated as many as 2.56,270 houses for the state of Andhra Pradesh and directed the state government to construct them along with the release of funds post the bifurcation under the scheme Pradhan Manthri Awas Yojana. During the regime of ex CM Chandrababu Naidu, the AP Govt constructed as many as 47, 000 houses which was bad but if we look at how many houses AP Govt has constructed when Jagan assumed Power, one has to be shocked as the count was 823.
Center pointed out the AP Government and its Chief Minister regarding the PMAY as it presented the reports that show as many as a total of 823 houses were constructed in the span of 3.5 years. Within this 823, AP Govt has built 815 during the period 2019-2020 and just 5 houses during 2022-2023 and no houses were constructed in 2020-2022. It also pointed out that Jagan has built houses under the scheme ‘Pedalandariki Illu’ taking the funds under ‘PMAY’ where center contributes 1.8 lakh rupees and state adds just 30,000 rupees but he dared to use his name for the PM’s scheme. The Central Government lashed at the state’s representatives claiming that other states have almost finished their houses whereas AP has still 2,08,754 houses yet to be completed and accused the CM of musing funds.
