The BJP-led Central Government which took a jolt with the loss in Karnataka is not going to take chances with the Telugu States. As a result, the BJP leaders are concentrating to win the trust of Southern States, especially the AP voters with their wishes and grants before the general elections of 2024.
When the United AP got bifurcated into the residual AP and Telangana, many things were promised to AP along with the most hyped Special Category Status by then government Congress but none of them were granted by the preceding government of BJP. They in turn mocked the self-respect of AP people by canceling Special Category Status to Special Package but even that was also not granted properly, let alone other monetary grants. Thanks to the previous government TDP and current government YSRCP, funds for the capital construction and Polavaram are also stopped for various reasons leaving the state dry. BJP also irked AP with the privatization of Vizag Steel Plant and even the local leaders of BJP are unable to answer the voters regarding BJP’s help.
In this regard, BJP wants to make peace with the AP and it is looking forward to granting the already promised Special Package of 22,000 crores of rupees to the state apart from helping with the revenue deficit and funds for the Polavaram project. Soon an official declaration shall be made by the BJP biggies from the Capital. Also the CM of AP, Jagan is all set to tour Delhi for the same reason, said some sources close to the ruling party. Whatever is said and done, it is high time for AP to fight for its due promises from the central government.
