The probe into former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case, that was slowed down by CBI during elections time is likely to be sped up soon and YS Bharati, wife of former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, is likely to be summoned for further evidence.
Though already five years over, during Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime the investigation was said to be dragged and government’s non-cooperation created hurdles for CBI’s investigation also, as counter cases were registered against some CBI officers. Due to the state government’s protection, the CBI failed to arrest key accused and Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy, till he got bail from the High Court.
The CBI charge sheet reveals that the differences between Vivekananda Reddy and Avinash Reddy regarding the Kadapa MP ticket, led to this murder. In 2014 elections, while Vivekananda Reddy was the main contender for this seat, it was Bharati reportedly forced Jaganmohan Reddy to give this seat to his cousin brother Avinash Reddy.
As Jaganmohan Reddy expressed his inability due to pressures from Vivekananda Reddy, it is now believed that he was murdered only to pave the way for Avinash Reddy to contest from Kadapa. As a result, the investigation agency is said to be exploring the need to question Bharati to know what really happened on allocation of Kadapa seat.
It may be recalled that soon after formation of Jaganmohan Reddy’s government learning that the state government was intentionally attempting to slow down investigation into this case, Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr Sunitha approached the High Court seeking CBI probe. Jaganmohan Reddy government had severely opposed the CBI probe into this case.
After the court handed over the investigation of this case to the CBI, the central investigation agency had primarily collected evidence on the involvement of Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy in the murder. CBI revealed that it could confirm that Avinash Reddy’s involved in this murder on the basis of Google takeout and timeline.
It was collaborated by some accused and also witnesses that the murder was done for the MP seat. However, as chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy allegedly attempted to protect the accused because there is a possibility that the political future of Jagan along with YCP will be in jeopardy if the truth behind the murder comes out.
