A fresh controversy is brewing in Visakhapatnam after a police case was filed against Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Telugu Mahila president Sarvasiddhi Ananthalakshmi. The incident, which took place inside the Gajuwaka police station, has stirred political discussions, as the leader allegedly attacked a man during an official inquiry.
The man involved in the incident, Kothuru Narendra, hails from Akkireddypalem. He is known to operate a finance business and also works for a software firm in Hyderabad. Ananthalakshmi had earlier accused him of cheating her out of ₹40 lakh by promising RTC job placements. Based on her complaint, Gajuwaka police summoned Narendra for questioning.
However, what followed shocked many. During the interrogation, Ananthalakshmi is said to have stormed into the police station and physically assaulted Narendra with a slipper. Though Narendra was initially taken into custody based on her accusations, he was granted bail soon after.
Post his release, Narendra filed a counter-complaint with the Visakhapatnam City Police Commissioner, claiming that the attack had caused a serious injury to his ear, leading to bleeding. He also submitted a formal request for action.
In response, police reviewed CCTV footage from the station, which reportedly verified Ananthalakshmi’s actions. Acting on this evidence, the authorities registered a case against her.
The matter didn’t end there. Allegations also surfaced that Ananthalakshmi had threatened a Circle Inspector during the incident, allegedly stating, “You don’t know who I am… I’ll get you transferred.” Sources reveal the CI confirmed this statement as being true.
Confirming the developments, police officials said that the case was registered based on both the complaint and clear video proof. The incident has now triggered political ripples, as this marks a serious charge against a prominent woman leader from the opposition party.
