Chief Minister Chandrabbu Naidu has appointed a cabinet sub-committee to study and make recommendations on the use of the resort built by the previous government in Rishikonda of Visakhapatnam. Government Chief Secretary K Vijayanand issued orders to this effect on Friday.
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, Social Welfare Minister and Visakhapatnam District In-charge Minister Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneyaswamy have been appointed in the cabinet sub-committee.
The order stated that the Special Chief Secretary of the Tourism, Youth Advancement and Culture Department will act as the convener of the cabinet sub-committee. Earlier on Friday morning, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who visited Rishikonda, said that they are thinking about how to make Rishikonda resorts a tourism destination.
Ministers Nadendla Manohar, Kandula Durgesh, MLCs and MLAs also inspected the buildings in Rushikonda along with him. They discussed the quality of construction, construction cost, and current maintenance costs with the officials and got to know the details. Later, a review meeting was held with the party ministers and legislators on the maintenance of Rushikonda buildings and further activities.
Pawan Kalyan said that Rs.90 crores were spent on two blocks alone and Rs.70 crores on one, and only 4 out of 7 blocks were built, spending Rs.454 crores. He recalled that in the past they were not allowed to come and many obstacles were created. He said that in the past when there were resorts, there was an income of Rs.7 crores per year, but now the electricity bill alone is Rs.15 lakhs per year.
Pawan Kalyan deplored that the damage that has already happened has been done and that the cracks are getting worse inside and there is leakage in some places.He said that Jaganmohan Reddy was built to live in, but they are thinking about how to do this under tourism. He said that they are considering how to use this structure as a major project and that it should be cleaned first.
