Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s brother Konidela Nagababu is most likely to be named as a cabinet minister by the NDA government led by Chandrababu Naidu. Nagababu holds a significant clout in Janasena party and its political affairs. He has been with Pawan Kalyan all these years since 2014. He was supposed to contest as Anakapalli MP in this year’s elections. However, Janasena and TDP sacrificed his seat for their ally BJP. So, there has been a strong talk in political circles that Nagababu will be give a prominent post in future.
Earlier, there were reports that Nagababu was the strong contender for the prestigious TTD Chairman. Later, it was speculated that he will be sent to Rajyasabha as one of the representatives of Janasena out of the three vacant seats. But, BJP has once again intervened and locked BC leader R. Krishnayya for the post. TDP already finalised two notable leaders for the remaining two posts. Hence, Nagababu has no other option but to accept the cabinet berth.
At present, there are three ministers from Janasena which includes Pawan Kalyan, Kandula Durgesh and Nadendla Manohar holding various portfolios. Pawan Kalyan initially demanded four cabinet berths for Janasena in NDA government. Chandrababu Naidu accommodated three ministers in the first cabinet. He agreed to induct Nagababu into the cabinet and fulfil the alliance partner’s request.
Nagababu contested as MP Narsapur in 2019 and lost the election. In 2024, he sacrificed his seat to BJP. But, he continues to play a significant role in Janasena. He often voices his opinion on behalf of the party and criticises his political opponents in a satirical manner.
It would be interesting to see what portfolio will Nagababu hold in the cabinet. He is most likely to be nominated as an MLC in future.
