The Congress high-command decision to field Abhisheik Manu Singhvi, who failed to election in Rajya Sabha poll from Himachal Pradesh, where the party is in power, evoking discontent in Telangana political circles.
Though several senior Congress leaders are angry for ignoring their claims and `importing’ some one from Delhi `lobbyist being a Supreme Court lawyer, remaining calm without raising their voice. However, BRS leaders are invoking `Telangana sentiment alleging that this reflects how Telangana Congress leadership surrenders `Telangana pride’.
BRS MP Vadviraju Ravichandra and former minister Srinivas Goud wondered why the Congress party had chosen a `non-Telangana’ person. MP Vaviraju Ravichandra said that the Congress government that came to power in Telangana has put the state’s existence and self-respect as hostage in Delhi.
He said that Telangana Congress leaders turned into puppets before Congress high-command. If a prominent BC leader K Keshava Rao resigns from the Rajya Sabha membership, he asked why the Congress party failed to consider BC, SC or minority leaders, including V Hanumantha Rao as a potential candidate?
He recalled that during Telangana state agitation Abhishek Singhvi had never responded positively towards mass struggle. How can such a person be allotted a seat from Telangana?, he asked. He lamented that giving Rajya Sabha seat to a Delhi leader who is not eligible in the state is an insult to the people of Telangana.
Ravichandra welcoming the chief minister Revanth Reddy launching Sitarama project, said that it is not possible to complete it in seven to eight months as said by the ministers. He alleged that Congress leaders switching on the projects is a matter of joy, but it is not appropriate to insult the previous rulers in the same way.
Meanwhile, former Minister Srinivas Goud said that Revanth Reddy became CM and Kishan Reddy became Union Minister because of former Chief Minister KCR’s struggle for Telangana. He reminded that when KCR was the CM, there was a lot of pressure on him to allot Rajya Sabha seats to other states, but he confined to Telangana leaders only.
The former minister said that it is very painful for the Congress to give Rajya Sabha seats to the opponents of Telangana state. He expressed anger that all the posts in the united state were given to non-Telangana. He demanded to provide opportunities to BC leaders who are in large numbers in the state.
