BRS MLAs urges SPeaker To Revoke suspension on MLA Jagadish Reddy

Thursday, March 27, 2025

BRS MLAs have jointly requested the Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar on Monday to revoke suspension of Suryapet MLA Jagadish Reddy. Those who met the Speaker included Jagadish Reddy, Harish Rao, KTR, Gangula Kamalakar, Padi Kaushik Reddy, Kalvakuntla Doctor Sanjay, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Sudheer Reddy, KP Vivekananda, Anil Jadhav, Chinta Prabhakar and Manik Rao.

It may be recalled that Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar announced in the Assembly on March 13 that BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy was being suspended from the assembly till the end of budget session. When the resolution to suspend Jagadish Reddy was introduced in the House by Legislative Affairs Minister Sridhar Babu, the Speaker announced that Jagadish Reddy was being suspended.

Meanwhile, MLA Jagadish Reddy wondered why no bulletin was issued on his suspension so far since a week. Stating that he will not come if a bulletin is given that he has been suspended, he deplored that there is still no evidence whether he was suspended or not, and that he has already appealed to the Speaker twice, and that it looks like the height of government anarchy.

He alleged that the bulletin is not given because the government is afraid that he will challenge in the court.  Jagadish Reddy made it clear that the question and answer session was being canceled because the ministers could not answer. He said that he was suspended for only stating that the entire state was watching what the minister was saying in the house, whether it had any connection with the Governor’s words.

When the Minister Sridhar Babu demanded that Jagadish Reddy withdraw his comments and apologize to the Speaker,  Harish Rao objected to the minister’s comments and questioned what Jagadish Reddy had said wrongly? “Members have equal opportunities in the House. The Legislative Assembly is not about the Congress Party or the government. Jagadish Reddy said that opposition members have equal rights”.

With this, ruling party members shouted slogans. Even though Jagadish Reddy was given a chance, ruling party members obstructed him. However, Jagadish Reddy, who did not back down, said, “House traditions should be respected. Speaker’s powers should be respected. Members’ rights should be respected.”

Government Whip Adluri Laxman Kumar intervened and demanded that Jagadish Reddy apologize and suspend him.

The members’ slogans created chaos in the House. As a result, the Speaker adjourned the House for 15 minutes. Later, in the House that began, the Speaker announced the suspension of Jagadish Reddy on the demands of the Congress members.
