BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath passed Away

BRS Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath breathed his last at 5.45 am on Sunday. He was admitted to the AIG Hospital on the 5th of this month due to a heart attack and died in the early hours of today while undergoing treatment. This was officially announced by the doctors.

On the 5th of this month, Maganti Gopinath suffered a heart attack while at home. His family members rushed him to the Gachibowli AIG Hospital. The doctors who examined him found that the MLA had suffered a cardiac arrest. Later, after performing CPR, his heart started beating again.

After his pulse and BP returned to normal, he was put on a ventilator in the ICU and continued his treatment. He had been suffering from kidney-related problems for the past few years. It is understood that he had been admitted to the same hospital 3 months ago and underwent dialysis. He breathed his last this morning after undergoing treatment for 3 days due to a recent heart attack.

Maganti Gopinath was born on June 2, 1963 in Hyderguda, Hyderabad. He is survived by his wife, son and two daughters. Maganti Gopinath entered politics in 1983 through the Telugu Desam Party. He won consecutively from the Jubilee Hills constituency in the 2014, 2018 and 2023 assembly elections.

Maganti, who served as the Telugu Youth President from 1985 to 1992, contested the 2014 elections on behalf of the TDP. He tasted victory for the first time with a lead of over 9,000 votes over his nearest Majlis Party candidate Naveen Yadav. 

Later, he joined the BRS and defeated Congress candidate P Vishnuvardhan Reddy in the 2018 elections. In the last election, he once again contested from Jubilee Hills and won against Congress candidate Azharuddin, achieving a hat-trick.

BRS chief KCR expressed shock over the death of Maganti Gopinath. He expressed grief and sorrow over his death. He expressed his grief that Gopinath’s death is a huge loss for the party. He said that Maganti Gopinath, who rose through the ranks in politics with great effort, earned a reputation as a very gentle public leader. He recalled that as the MLA of Jubilee Hills constituency, Maganti was always available to the people and earned his own place as a senior political leader of Hyderabad city.
