The systematic intrusion of known `loyalists’ of former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy into key positions in Chandrababu Naidu-led government with the tactic pressure from the BJP high-command giving scope to suspect `hidden agenda’ to destabilize TDP’s regime in the state.
After making TDP leadership to elect BJP former state chief Somu Veerraju, who is known for his proximity with the YCP chief and also allegedly having financial connections, the BJP high-command is now said to be making moves to push another Jagan’s proxy GVL Narasimha Rao to the Rajya Sabha.
As a by-election is likely to be held soon for the Rajya Sabha seat vacated by YCP’s Vijayasai Reddy and also CM Chandrababu indicated this seat will be given to BJP, the BJP leadership is said to be considering fielding GVL in this seat.
It may be recalled that in the last year elections when both GVL and Somu Veerraju tried to contest in the Lok Sabha polls, Chandrababu strongly opposed stating that due to their proximity with Jaganmohan Reddy both TDP and Jana Sena cader will not vote to them.
But this time, even without any formal discussions union home minister Amit Shah allegedly forced Chandrababu to spare one MLC seat to Somu Veerraju. The Chief Minister has practically been unable to lodge a formal protest for BJP’s choice. Many TDP leaders are wondering why Chandrababu Naidu is now unable to withstand BJP’s pressures.
Likewise, several senior IAS and IPS officers, who were known for their large scale irregularities during YS Jagan’s regime are also now able to get key positions or avoid any serious actions for their crimes during the previous regime, with the tactic support from the central government.
Meanwhile, the TDP leadership is said to be worried towards growing proximity of several of their MPs with the central BJP leadership. Starting from union minister of state P Chandrasekhar, a former BJP leader, who is now TDP MP are said to be maintaining intimate relations with the BJP leadership.
The BJP central leadership seems to be moving strategically to bring a division among TDP MPs in the case TDP resorts to exit NDA like in 2018 under any unexpected situation. According to an estimation BJP is keeping an eye to have their influence on atleast 10 TDP MPs.
