A BJP delegation led by state president D Purandeswari urged Governor Abdul Nazir to get details of present financial status from YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s government from Chief Secretary. Submitting him a 13-point letter, she deplored that even when the Election Code was in force, the government paid bills arbitrarily to its proxy contractors and the debts of the state government had become saturated.
She said that the government is not in a position even to pay interests and unable to pay salaries to government employees on time. Even pensions to poor and old people are not being paid properly. She wondered if the government got loans by making an estimate of future income from liquor sales and showing it as collateral.
In her letter, she demanded that the details of the total debts raised as per the RBI list should be declared, and the details of the debts raised by the corporations and dues to be paid to the monopolists should be disclosed. She also said that amount of loans raised by pledging properties and amount of loans given by souvenir guarantee to be disclosed.
Purandeswari also said that how much is the debt from government employees’ PF and financial institutions, TA and DA arrears of government employees to be traveled. She asked for details of the principal and interest to be repaid annually, and the amount of dues to be paid to Civil Supplies Corporation and Discoms.
Purandeshwari criticized that the state government has shown laxity in releasing funds for welfare schemes and only partial payments have been made for those that have been pressed. She made it clear that the amount of funds to be paid for the welfare schemes this year should be informed.
Purandeshwari said that the funds received under Central Rural Development have been diverted. She said that even the bills of the Sarpanchs who worked in the villages were not paid and they were asked to reveal the details of the debts brought by the corporations. She said that once the full details of the financial situation are available, the next government will know how to proceed.
