BJP Legislative Party leader A Maheshwar Reddy dared the State government to demolish buildings constructed by AIMIM president and MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Salkam Cheruvu in the Bandlaguda area.
Reddy said the way Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency HYDRA was selectively demolishing structures, it had become clear that the government was not serious about the initiative.
“Why are you targeting a few individuals and common man? If you have guts, demolish the illegal structures of Owaisi. There are hundreds of illegal structures in the Old City, why is the government not demolishing them?”he asked.
He clarified that if the HYDRA commissioner does not know about Owaisi’s illegal constructions, he will come and show it, and if they do not have suitable JCBs, he will bring them from the neighboring state. Is the commissioner aware of the encroachment of old town ponds? Are there details of the illegal constructions of Old Basti Gurram Pond and Jal Palli Pond?, he asked.
In the last 20 years, if the governments turn a blind eye, they have taken possession of lands and ponds and started constructions at will. If HYDRA and the state government have the guts to start demolitions from the old city, why don’t your bulldozers go to the old city?, he wondered.
He alleged that they are creating a sensation in the name of HYDRA by not being able to fulfill their promises to divert the problems of the state.
Coming down heavily on the Congress government, Maheshwar Reddy wanted to know why action had not been taken against MLA Danam Nagender, against whom HYDRA had registered a case. “It looks like the case against Nagender was a drama. This government is not serious about removing encroachments,”he alleged.
Referring to HYDRA claims that they have recovered 49 acres in just a week or ten days, he said that they are saying that lakhs of acres of land in the state have been alienated and crores of buildings have been constructed. When will they recover all these lands?, he asked.
The BJP leader reminded that according to the National Grid’s report on encroachment of the capital’s ponds, according to the report given by the irrigation officials on 134 encroached ponds in Hyderabad, 8,718 constructions were done and 5343 constructions were done within the buffer zone.
According to this report, does the government have the guts and courage to demolish all 13,000 structures? 14 lakh acres of assigned land, 6 lakh acres of forest land and endowment lands in the state have been alienated and are in the hands of others. Does the state government have the power to acquire those lands? He asked.
