A number of top Tollywood stars and social media personalities, such as Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati, Pranitha, Prakash Raj, and anchor Shyamala, have landed in trouble following the registration of cases by the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police against them for reportedly promoting betting apps. While most of the accused have reacted serenely and promised their cooperation with the probe, anchor Shyamala seems to have adopted a more defensive and circumspect line.
Afraid of getting arrested, Shyamala approached the Telangana High Court seeking relief. The court provided her with interim protection from arrest but directed her to cooperate with the police inquiry in full. She was asked to present herself before the authorities on Monday. Shyamala also filed a petition seeking the cancellation of the case against her, but the court turned down her request, laying stress on the continuation of the inquiry. Even though she is now temporarily legally guarded, the court has emphasized her compulsory involvement in the investigation.
Conversely, other persons implicated in the case, including anchors Vishnu Priya and Ritu Chowdhary, have already been presented before the police. They are said to have provided all required details and surrendered their mobile devices as part of the probe. The police did not arrest anybody in these instances, considering their readiness to cooperate without confrontation. This has come with questions regarding the decision of Shyamala to take the route to the court rather than a similar route.
