BCs deplores Revanth Reddy violates social justice in appointment of Information Commissioners

Thursday, December 4, 2025

The backward classes leaders are expressing concern that the Revanth Reddy government’s recent appointment of  State Information Commissioners has completely violated social justice. Accusing the state government of unilaterally giving no opportunity to BCs by allocating Information Commissioner posts to only upper castes, they are asking not a single BC is not qualified for appointment?

The national president of BC Welfare Association Jajula Srinivas Goud demanded that according to the caste census conducted in Telangana, 56% of the nominated posts should be given to BCs. He spoke to the media along with BC Caste Association JAC Convener Balagoni Balaraju Goud, BC Intellectuals Forum Convener Professor M Bagaiah, and BC Youth Association National President Kanakala Shyam Kuruma.

Srinivas Goud wondered that the Congress government, on the one hand, made promises that it would conduct a caste census and give their share to whomever it wanted, while on the other hand, it was not right to not implement them. He accused that ignoring BCs in the appointment of State Information Commissioners would be an insult to them.

He questioned whether the BC caste itself has become disqualified in the rules even though the BCs have all the qualifications required for the Information Commissioners? He demanded that the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy should immediately intervene and rectify the injustice done and give the remaining three vacant Information Commissioner posts to the BCs.

He said that Revanth Reddy repeatedly stated that the BCs, who are supporting the government by enumerating the caste of the BCs and doing justice to them, but in practice ignoring them in most of the nominated posts.

He warned that BCs are strongly opposed to the government binding all the posts starting from the Chief Secretary, University Vice Chancellors, Information Commissioners, nominated posts etc. to the upper caste social groups.

Understanding this and wanting the BCs to gain confidence in the state government, Srinivas Goud demanded that the posts should be given according to the population ratio or at least 42 percent as per the bill passed by the state government in the assembly. He warned that otherwise, BCs would have to launch a large-scale agitation against the state government across the state.
