Balakrishna says Cancer Hospital To come Up In Amaravati in 8 Months

Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Bala Krishna, who is also chairman for the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute (BIACH&RI) Hyderabad, announced on Saturday that a branch of the cancer hospital will be ready in AP Capital Amaravati in eight months.

On the eve of World Childhood Cancer Day, he inaugurated

an ultra-modern paediatric cancer ward and paediatric ICU

At BIACH&RI. He also revealed that a special cancer care fund for children has been setup to provide necessary treatment to the needy children fighting with cancer.

The AP government had earlier given site at Amaravati to set up Cancer Hospital, but all those works were stalled during YCP regime. Now, after returning power the coalition government has been negotiating with all those who came forward earlier to set up prestigious institutions in Amaravati.

Speaking on this occasion Balakrishna said that paediatric cancer ward started with 12 beds has now grown into 120 bedded facility itself demonstrated the hospital commitment in this regard. He further explained that hospital is capable of providing regular chemotherapy to advanced BMT treatment to children and revealed that more than 200 BMT treatments were completed in the hospital successfully for children only, which is highest in the entire country.  

Keeping in view of growing number of cases, Balakrishna has explained various measures undertaken by the hospital in expanding its facilities and announced that soon construction of the facility in Andhra Pradesh capital region will begin.  While explaining the importance of creating a special cancer care fund for children, he said that growing number of cases among children made the hospital to think in this direction.

Earlier in the program Dr Veerandra Patil, Paediatric Oncologist, BIACH&RI has highlighted the need to find solutions for the challenges faced by children fighting with cancer collectively and unitedly.  He assured that paediatric medical team consisting of several specialists is always ready to help and provide services for the needy.  He hoped that the new facilities inaugurated will further increase the capacity to hospital to treat more number of children.
