Andhra Pradesh is poised to make the largest leap into the semiconductor industry by setting up a world-class semiconductor manufacturing plant at Orvakal Industrial Park in the merged Kurnool district. The ₹14,000-crore project would be one of the largest semiconductor investments in India and would mark a landmark project both for the state and the country.

Andhra Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan-based Ito Micro Technology Corporation and two of the biggest Indian companies HYDRAIS Group and BN Group to fulfill its ambitious plans. The MoU was inked at Hyderabad where Minister Nara Lokesh played a vital role in signing this landmark deal.

This will be the first semiconductor plant in Andhra Pradesh and the state will take a giant leap forward as one of the leaders in India’s growing semiconductor sector. According to Minister TG Bharat, “This is the result of visionary leadership from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and dedicated efforts from Minister Lokesh in taking this investment to the state.”. The companies had previously discussed the project with Minister Lokesh in Amaravati last month, and now with the MoU in place, the plant is going to be completed in the next two and a half years.

It will generate employment opportunities for thousands once it begins functioning, and a good amount will go to the local economy. So, the choice of Orvakal Industrial Park in the Rayalaseema region is perfectly in line with the vision that Chief Minister Naidu has articulated on balanced industrial development across the state.

Spread over 130 acres, this facility will have a direct employment capacity of 2,000 while generating indirect employment for around 10,000 people. To the state, this is being a big endeavor for ease in doing business that should see its operation within a span of two and a half years. The new facility will rank as India’s largest semiconductor fabrication plant, benchmarking the company in the area.

This project highlights the dedication of Andhra Pradesh towards creating an industrial growth corridor and attracting the world’s cutting-edge technology. This will be instrumental in stimulating local economies, fueling innovation, and contributing to the overall growth of the Rayalaseema region.

This revolutionary initiative has put Andhra Pradesh firmly in the lead as the semiconductor capital of the world, opening doors to technological growth and significant economic development across the state.
