During the election, TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu assured farmers that they would also bring the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme, similar to the Rythu Bharosa scheme, which is providing investment assistance to farmers in Telangana for crop investment. He instructed the officials to formulate procedures for this after forming the government and becoming the Chief Minister.
Agriculture Minister Atchannaidu also made a key announcement in the Legislative Council recently. He said that Rs. 20,000 will be provided to eligible farmers every year under investment assistance. He explained that the state government will provide Rs. 14,000 and the central government will provide Rs. 6,000 under PM Kisan.
He told the council that 41.4 lakh farmers across the state are eligible for this scheme and Rs. 4500 crore has been allocated for them in the previous budget. He lamented that the YS Jagan government has done nothing for farmers in the last five years and has not undertaken a single program.
He accused the YSRCP government of giving Rs. 12,500 to farmers in the 2019 election promise, and after coming to power, they gave only Rs. 13,500, including Rs. 6,000 given by the center and Rs. 7,500.
He said that soil tests have not been conducted in the state for five years, that the necessary equipment for farmers cultivating horticultural crops has not been provided through talks with companies, and that seeds have not been provided on subsidies.
He was angry that they have acted negligently by not even providing crop insurance. He said that even after his government came to power, he has been correcting the mistakes made by the Jagan government.
He assured that soil tests are being conducted, drone technology has been introduced, mechanization in agriculture has been increased, subsidies and insurance have been brought in. He said that after allocating funds in the budget, any government should definitely implement it, and that after his government allocated funds for Annadata Sukhibhava, why is there concern?, he asked.
