Friday, December 5, 2025

Andhra Pradesh is setting new records in revenue collection. Since the implementation of GST in 2017, the net GST revenue has been recorded at a record level every month from April to September this year, which can be considered a sign of the state’s financial stability. The highest collection in the month of September, especially, has once again proven the strength of the tax system.

In September 2025, the net GST revenue was Rs. 2,789 crore, while the gross GST collection was Rs. 3,653 crore. Compared to September 2024, the net GST revenue registered an increase of 7.45%, while the gross revenue increased by 4.19%. The growth rate is more significant compared to September 2023. There was a growth of 12.67% in net revenue.

In September, the State GST (SGST) collection was Rs 1,185 crore. This is 8.28% more than the same month last year. The increase in consumption of various goods in the state and strict tax collection by the Commercial Tax Department staff are the main reasons for this increase, said Principal Commercial Taxation Officer A. Babu.

The state received Rs 1,605 crore in the form of IGST adjustments in September. This is 6.84% more than the same month last year and 18.62% more than in 2023. Officials analyze that special monitoring and technical collection policy played a major role behind these results.

The state is getting strong revenue in the form of VAT due to the sale of petrol and diesel. VAT on petroleum products in September 2025 was recorded at Rs 1,380 crore. This is 3.10% more than the same month last year. The main reason behind this is the increase in petrol sales in the last three months. Petroleum VAT has maintained a key position in revenue.

Professional tax revenue registered a growth of 43.75% in September. Professional tax collections in the first six months showed a total growth of 51.51%. This indicates that jobs and commercial activities have expanded in the state. In the first six months of the financial year 2025-26, the state received a revenue of Rs. 26,686 crore from all sectors. This includes net GST, VAT on petroleum, alcohol, professional tax and other collections.

While the revenue was Rs. 25,373 crore in the same period last year, this time there has been a significant growth. According to the estimates of financial experts, although the collections were expected to decline in the wake of the announcement of GST reductions by the central government, all doubts have been overturned due to the efficiency of the state commercial taxes department and the response of taxpayers.
