Friday, December 5, 2025

The Andhra Pradesh government has issued a gazette regarding the Andhra Pradesh SC Classification Ordinance 2025 on Thursday. The government issued this gazette after the state governor Abjul Nazir informed about the approval of the AP Scheduled Sub-castes Classification Ordinance 2025.

The orders related to the issuance of the gazette were issued by Law Secretary G. Pratibha Devi. As part of the SC classification, the Relli, Mala and Madiga sub-castes have been divided into ABC categories. The government has issued this gazette providing 1 percent reservation for the Relli sub-castes, 6.5 percent for the Mala sub-castes and 7.5 percent for the Madiga sub-castes.

The government has issued this ordinance to apply these reservations in education and job opportunities. The Mega DSC notification will also be issued soon to take this classification into account. The issue of SC classification was also discussed in the cabinet meeting recently.

Recently, the Rajiv Ranjan Mishra Commission submitted a report to the government on this. The commission gave a report to classify the state as a unit. It discussed the proposal of the MLAs to classify the district as a unit. It is in this context that the cabinet decided to classify the state as a unit according to the 2011 census.

It decided to take up the classification as a district unit after the 2026 census. Similarly, it decided to pass a resolution to include Budaga Jangas and another caste in the SCs. A single-member commission, Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, submitted a report to the government on the SC classification last month.

An inquiry was conducted on the SC classification in the joint districts and Rajiv Ranjan Mishra’s report was submitted to CS Vijayanand. As part of the SC classification, the commission studied the reservation system, economic self-reliance of sub-categories in SCs and other issues.

The commission was formed to collect opinions and requests from SC sub-castes across the state. Based on this report, the issue of SC classification was discussed and approved by the Cabinet.
