The Government of Andhra Pradesh is said to be ready to act against former minister and senior YCP leader Peddireddy Ramachadnra Reddy against his alleged encroachment of forest lands in Chittoor district.
Officials have prepared reports on land irregularities in the revenue village limits of Mangalampet, Pulicharla mandal, Punganur constituency and a preliminary report has already reached the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on the illegal acquisition of 75 acres of forest lands.
The Chief Minister is conducting a review on the Revenue Department at the Secretariat on Wednesday, in which the report is said to be tabled for discussion. Peddireddy is accused of encroaching hundreds of acres in Punganur, Thamballapalle and Renigunta mandals by tampering with records and using benami names.
The government is taking steps to take strict action by collecting solid evidence. Peddireddy built his illegal empire during the previous YSRCP government in the forest area under the revenue village of Pulicharla mandal of Mangalampeta, Punganur constituency.
Official sources stating that if any one wants to take a single square yard of forest land for projects, it needs many permissions. But Peddireddy has allegedly occupied acres of land. Along with a luxurious building, he has also set up an agricultural field. Not only that, he has also built a road with government money to go there.
When this matter came to light, the coalition government took it seriously. Now it remains to be seen what decision the government will take on the encroachment of Peddireddy’s forest lands. Meanwhile, there are many other allegations of land encroachment against former minister Peddireddy.
It seems that his followers have also been involved in many land encroachments in the Punganur constituency. He has been accused of creating fake documents and committing land encroachments during his tenure as a minister.
Many complaints have also been received in the Praja Darbar against Peddireddy’s land encroachments. The victims have also submitted petitions alleging that there have been many incidents in the state where names in records have been changed at will without the knowledge of the land owners, and that this should be stopped.
