AP Government Launches AP-Maker Lab on Wheels In Partnership with Infosys

Monday, April 28, 2025

The Andhra Pradesh government has launched the AP-Maker Lab on Wheels initiative in collaboration with software giant Infosys to promote awareness among students on emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The pilot project was inaugurated in Mangalagiri to equip students with essential technological skills.

State Minister for Education, IT, and Electronics Nara Lokesh inspected the mobile lab prototype at his residence in Undavalli. The lab aims to offer hands-on learning experiences in future technologies by visiting schools across the state, beginning with institutions in Mangalagiri. The initiative will later be expanded to cover various regions of Andhra Pradesh.

Minister Lokesh lauded Infosys for partnering with the state to deliver transformative skill development programs to students. He emphasized that the project aligns with the Digital India Vision and ESG Vision 2030, aiming to provide STEM learning opportunities and digital literacy to students in remote areas free of cost.

The project is being implemented by the AP State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) in association with Infosys. The mobile lab will offer basic training in Electronics, Robotics, Microcontrollers, IoT, and AI. Students will participate in 90-minute interactive learning sessions, after which they will have access to free online courses through the Infosys Springboard platform. Successful participants will receive global technology certifications.

The mobile lab is equipped with laptops, tablets, workstations, and experiment kits to support hands-on practical sessions. Infosys has invested ₹5 crore to set up the lab bus and will cover the annual maintenance cost of ₹40 lakh. The company will also provide course content and trainer support, with an estimated cost of ₹1,500 per student.

The program aims to reach 4,800 students every three months, with the mobile lab conducting sessions for four batches of 20 students each day.

The launch event was attended by Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, APSSDC Managing Director G. Ganesh Kumar, and Infosys representatives.
