Pithapuram constituency in erstwhile East Godavari district is being represented by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and is moving ahead with a bang to fulfill election promises. He had, in the previous polls with nearly 70,000 votes, promised to take big development to Pithapuram and the nearby regions. True to his word, the state government has rolled out a sequence of transformational plans for the area.
The government, through Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad, has issued orders to establish the Pithapuram Urban Development Authority, PUDA is going to play a pivotal role in the region’s progress. The project that initially had been propounded as Pithapuram Area Development Authority, PADA, was renamed and the state cabinet recently accorded approval to it. The headquarters of the PUDA will be located in Pithapuram, with a senior RDO to head the project as its director.
Focus on Regional Growth and Poverty Alleviation
PUDA’s primary objective is to drive economic growth, improve infrastructure, and address poverty in Pithapuram and surrounding areas. It aims to uplift the living standards of local communities through comprehensive planning and development strategies.
Among the key initiatives is the significant upgrade of Pithapuram’s government hospital. The current 30-bed facility will be expanded into a state-of-the-art 100-bed hospital at a cost of ₹39 crore. This will enhance healthcare access for residents across eight nearby mandals. Additionally, the hospital expansion will create 66 new job opportunities, supplementing the current workforce of 20 employees.
Infrastructure Boost for Pithapuram
To further improve urban infrastructure, ₹3 crore has been allocated for repairing urban roads, while ₹10 crore will go toward enhancing rural road connectivity. The Pithapuram RTC bus stand will also undergo modernization, ensuring better transportation facilities for commuters.
Private Investment: Apollo Hospital to Transform Healthcare
In a remarkable private investment initiative, Ram Charan and Upasana Konidela have acquired land in Pithapuram to set up an Apollo Hospital. This modern healthcare facility will offer advanced medical services to the region’s residents. Construction is going to start soon with this latest step forward in local needs and towards Pawan Kalyan’s vision of improving public welfare.
These developments reflect the continued commitment from the Deputy Chief Minister toward people in Pithapuram, which fosters greater scope toward bringing substantial progress to the region. Further joint planning and coordination are on their way to transform Pithapuram into a model constituency in Andhra Pradesh.
