After TDP emerged as the key player in the survival of the Narendra Modi-led government at the center, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been succeeding in grabbing unprecedented support for the development of the state. During the first 100 days of the government, the Center has agreed to give to the projects in the state worth Rs 60,000 crore.
Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar said that it is a miracle to get approval for so much funds in 100 days. According to him, the Center has approved the sanction of Rs.12,000 crores for the construction of the first phase of the Polavaram project. If the first phase is completed on time, it is willing to give another Rs.18,000 crores for the construction of the second phase.
The state will get Rs.15,000 crores in the form of external loans for the construction of Amaravati capital. A total of Rs.5,000 crores has been sanctioned for two industrial clusters at the rate of Rs 2,500 crores each. Rs 2,500 crores will be given for the construction of new railway lines to connect Amaravati to other parts of the country.
The Center will spend another Rs 2,500 crores for the expansion of various national highways around Amaravati. Recently, the center sanctioned Rs 2,000 crore for Visakha Steel Plant. Rs 2,500 crores have been released to Gram Panchayats for the work of Employment Guarantee Scheme. The value of all these is Rs.60 thousand crores.
Apart from this, Chandrasekhar said if the Petro Corridor goes ahead as planned, it will receive another Rs 60,000 crores from the Centre. The Center has also expressed willingness to construct one or two railway over bridges in each parliamentary constituency of the state.
Chandrasekhar said that it is a miracle to get so much funds in three to four months and the credit goes to `Brand Image’ of Chandrababu Naidu in New Delhi.
Moreover, Pemmasani said that the Center has sanctioned 30 ESI hospitals to the state. In Amaravati a 400-bed hospital is coming up spending Rs 250 crores. He said that the construction of these will start as soon as the land allotment is completed and there is no problem in funding. He said that Rs.80 crores have been sanctioned for the construction of the state office of the Department of Posts in Amaravati and its construction will also start once the land is allotted.
He said that about a 100 constructions are to be done with regard to central government institutions in Amaravati, for which consultations with the respective departments are going on.
