In Andhra Pradesh, Borugadda Anil Kumar, a notorious rowdy sheeter with strong ties to the YSRCP, has come under intense scrutiny from the current coalition government. Previously accused of making provocative statements against opposition leaders during the YSRCP’s tenure, Anil Kumar now faces multiple charges. Recently, he was arrested and remanded in a case involving ₹50 lakh blackmail, with additional charges being filed against him shortly after.
The controversy surrounding Anil Kumar escalated when, after appearing in Mangalagiri court, he was being transported to Rajahmundry Central Jail. On the way, police made an unexpected stop at Cross Roads Restaurant in Gannavaram for a meal. Reports suggest that the police officers involved shared a biryani meal with the accused, which sparked a political uproar.
In the wake of this incident, TDP leaders raised the issue with senior party officials, prompting them to alert high-ranking police authorities. This led to the suspension of seven police officers for neglecting their duties. Guntur SP, Satish Kumar, took swift action and issued orders for their suspension. The officers, however, defended their actions, claiming that it is standard procedure to provide meals to remand prisoners, which is why they served biryani during the transport.
