AP Assembly Secretary General Ramacharyulu Resigned

AP Assembly Secretary General T. Ramacharyu resigned from his post on Tuesday following pressure from the government.

He has a distinguished service in the Rajya Sabha throughout his career and rose to the level of its Secretary General and OSD to the Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, who was Vice President of India.

However he was appointed on deputation in the AP Assembly, after Venkaiah Naidu’s term as Vice President ended during the YCP regime. Since then, TDP leaders started suspecting him as YCP’s person. Moreover, as the Chandrababu Naidu government decided to remove all the officers, who were working after their retirement should be relieved, he was also asked to resign.

He was also in the AP Assembly during the previous TDP regime, after his retirement from Rajya Sabha, when Dr Kodela Siva Prasada Rao was the Speaker. But, soon after Venkaiah Naidu became the Vice President, he chose him as his OSD as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

Ramacharya came to this post after Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu completed his term two years ago. As he was appointed during the YCP regime, TDP leaders are making moves to send him out.

A communication gap was generated with the Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu, soon after he was elected to the post. Speaker became angry when he mentioned rule position with regard to the revocation of ban on pro-TDP news channels like ETV, ABN Andhra Jyothi and TV5 from covering Assembly proceedings.

With the insistence of the alliance leaders, the Speaker immediately brought the file and gave orders lifting the ban against them from assembly coverage. At this juncture, ruling party leaders accused him of attempting to `mislead’ the Speaker in the name of rule.

Since then, he became the target of ruling conciliation. As a result, it  seems that Ramacharyulu has decided to leave the office. To this extent, he sent his resignation to the Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu and also to the Chairman of the Council, Moshen Raju.
