Andhra Pradesh is embarking on a bold move towards transforming digital governance with the launch of India’s first Whatsapp Governance initiative, scheduled for January 30. The groundbreaking move will now enable citizens to have direct access to a wide range of government services through Whatsapp, thus making things easier for residents to interact with the government without leaving their homes.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, along with IT Minister Nara Lokesh, will be inaugurating the move in the footsteps of ushering in a new dawn for the state on public service digitization. Before this event, Chief Minister Naidu conducted a review meeting with officials at Amaravati; the officials gave a detailed presentation about the features and functions of Whatsapp Governance.
Our state has always been at the forefront of using technology to improve governance. With Whatsapp Governance, we are bringing 161 essential government services right to the fingertips of the public, so that they don’t need to physically visit government offices,” CM Naidu observed during the review session.
The first round of services will cover areas like APSRTC, municipal and revenue departments, Anna Canteens, CMRF, among several others. Ensuring both safety and confidentiality are the strong cyber security measures developed by the state so that this whole process could be safe as well as very seamless for all the users.
In October 2024, the Andhra Pradesh government formed a strategic partnership with Meta to implement this innovative solution. With Whatsapp Governance, Andhra Pradesh builds an efficient, more accessible, and citizen-friendly system. This will deliver public services to all efficiently.
