The Andhra Pradesh government is moving forward with plans to establish three new golf courses in Amaravati, Anantapur, and Visakhapatnam. This announcement was made by Kesineni Chinni, President of the Andhra Cricket Association and MP for Vijayawada, following a meeting on Tuesday with former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in Undavalli. During this meeting, they discussed the initiative and other important matters.
Kapil Dev commended Chief Minister Naidu for his genuine passion for promoting sports, especially golf. As the president of Indian golf, he expressed excitement about developing golf courses in the three locations, emphasizing the potential benefits for the community. While the government will ultimately decide on land allocation, Dev showed enthusiasm for the concept of creating a Sports City in the region.
In addition to the golf course initiative, Kesineni Chinni also highlighted plans to establish driving ranges aimed at nurturing athletic talent among rural youth, particularly in cricket and other sports.
Furthermore, the Andhra Pradesh government is considering appointing Kapil Dev as the state’s ambassador, with a decision expected soon. Future meetings will focus on finalizing locations for the golf courses and collaborating with Dev on various sports promotion initiatives. A new sports policy is also on the horizon, aimed at enhancing support for local athletes and expediting the completion of unfinished stadiums and sports facilities across the state.
