Responding to the miserable situation in the state with heavy rains and floods, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the central government is closely monitoring the flood situation in Andhra Pradesh. He said that an expert team led by the Additional Secretary of the Home Department has been formed to assess the damage in the flood-affected areas and make recommendations for immediate relief.
In his post in X, Amit Shah said that the team will visit flood affected areas to assess flood management, reservoir management, dam safety etc. on the spot. The central team will visit the flood affected areas of the state. He said that the central team will recommend immediate assistance after the visit.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their quick response to the flood situation in AP. Welcoming the visit of the Central team, the Chief Minister said that they are waiting for the recommendations of the central team.
He assured that the state government would extend full cooperation to the central team to provide timely relief to the affected people. Heavy floods have caused endless hardship to the people of many areas including Vijayawada. The government is trying its best to recover from this calamity and bring back normal conditions.
Relief operations in flood affected areas are continuing on a war footing. Food and basic necessities are being provided to the people on a large scale. The number of flood victims has reached 6.44 lakh, of which 42,707 have been shifted to 193 relief camps. Officials have identified 63,000 families in NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Krishna, Eluru and West Godavari districts to distribute essentials.
Ministers and MLAs are closely monitoring the mud water removal works in the flood affected areas in Vijayawada. The firemen are cleaning and bleaching the mud in the streets and houses. Sludge removal program was undertaken with 2 hundred and 50 fire engines.
