Union Home Minister Amit Shah drew attention to the serious allegations made by TDPP parliamentary party leader Lau Sri Krishna Devarayalu in the Lok Sabha on Monday that illegal liquor trade in AP was many times more than the Delhi liquor scam during the previous Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime.
On Tuesday, he was specially summoned to Amit Shah’s office in the middle of the Parliament session and asked about the details. Lau explained to him that the Delhi scam is a drop in the water compared to the AP scam. Relevant key documents were handed over.
The Home Minister inquired about the allegations that Rs. 18,000 crores of the Rs. 90,000 crore liquor trade was misused and another Rs. 4,000 crores were transferred to Dubai and Africa in benami names. Lau presented key documents showing that Hyderabad-based N. Sunil Reddy transferred Rs. 2,000 crores to Dubai.
He said that if the ED conducts a thorough investigation into these transactions, many key details will be revealed. It is learnt that Amit Shah assured him that they would conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Lau also explained that an MP resigned and quit politics due to the consequences of the AP liquor scam.
He said that 22 distilleries in the state were taken over and 26 new companies with meaningless brands were started, and all international brands were driven out. He explained that out of the sales of Rs. 99,000 crores in government shops, only Rs. 690 crores were made through digital transactions, and most of the rest of the money was stolen by Jagan and his followers.
It may be recalled that Lau Srikrishna Devarayalu, speaking on the 2025-26 Finance Bill in the Lok Sabha on Monday, explained the Jagan liquor scam. He alleged that during the YSRCP government, 20 private IMFLs and distilleries were illegally taken under government control and 60 percent of the production capacity was handed over to newly formed companies.
Meanwhile, Lavu met Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday and explained to him his discussions with home minister Amit Shah and the assurance given by him to conduct a thorough probe into liquor scam.
