The Andhra Pradesh government has taken another key decision in the development of the state capital city of Amaravati. The government has divided the city of Amaravati, which is currently a new city, into 13 zones. In this, six zones have been identified as priority zones.
The Amaravati Government Complex area has been divided into two zones. Out of the total six zones, 12,894 acres will be developed in the first phase. In this, it has been decided to give first priority to the Amaravati Government Complex (AGC).
In the newly decided zoning policy, zones one to 12 have been established and another zone has been designated as 12A. With the help of the Netherlands, the entire area where canals and reservoirs were to be built has been established as a priority zone.
Currently, the zones that the government wants to develop include zones 1,2,3,6,7,10. One and two of these zones are in the limits of Ananthavaram and Sakhamuru, and the sports policy will be implemented there. These two zones are spread over an area of 4237.34 acres.
Also, zones three and six are in the limits of Sakhamuru, Kondama Raju Palem, Rayapudi, and Lingayapalem. The proposed AGC will be constructed in these. These zones are spread over an area of 4241.57 acres. The seventh zone includes Lingayapalem, Uddandarayunipalem, Mandadam, Tallayapalem, and Venkatapalem. Tourism development projects will be undertaken in this area. It is spread over 2060.13 acres.
The tenth zone includes Neerukonda, Ainavolu, and Kuragallu areas. Reservoirs and educational development programs will be undertaken here. The tenth zone is spread over a total area of 2355.52 acres. Of these, Palavagu reservoir will be constructed in the sixth zone and Kondaveetivagu reservoir will be constructed in the tenth zone.
In addition to these, the Amaravati Seed Development Area has been identified as a special area. Tenders will be called for these soon. Officials said that they are planning to develop Shakamoor Lake as a tourist area among these. Officials also say that parks will be developed in the area adjacent to Neerukonda as mentioned in the previous master plan, and parks will come up on both sides parallel to the AGC.
They also said that water bodies are also in this zone and they need to be developed as soon as possible. Officials say that they have given priority to the construction of reservoirs among these, and that gravity canals will also be completed.
