Following Allu Arjun’s arrest in stampede incident, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other Congress leaders made harsh comments on Tollywood. Moreover, the government has also decided to not grant permissions for benefit shows. Amid raising differences between film industry and the ruling party, a delegation led by Film Development Corporation chairman Dil Raju met Revanth Reddy today in Hyderabad.
While Megastar Chiranjeevi’s absence for this meeting didn’t surprise many, Akkineni Nagarjuna’s presence has raised the eyebrows. It was quite unexpected that Nagarjuna will attend this meeting because he was the first actor from Tollywood who was badly impacted by the present government in Telangana.
It is a known fact that Revanth Reddy’s brainchild and potent weapon HYDRAA demolished Nagarjuna’s N Convention in Madhapur without giving any prior notice with the allegation that it was built on FTL land after encroachment. Though Nagarjuna hit out the government and even approached the High Court immediately, the posh building was razed within hours.
Nagarjuna openly expressed his displeasure at the government’s move as he secured stay orders from the Court long back on this building. Revanth Reddy didn’t respond and simply directed the HYDRAA to go ahead with its job without paying heed to any such claims.
After this incident, Akkineni family once again grabbed the headlines after a few days when Congress Minister Konda Surekha made disgusting comments on Nagarjuna and Samantha for political reasons. These unsavoury remarks were criticised by all and sundry irrespective of political affiliations. Despite so much of backlash and negativity, Revanth Reddy’s government didn’t take any action against Konda Surekha.
Nagarjuna filed a defamation suit against Konda Surekha and filed a case for the unsubstantiated comments. Many felt that Nagarjuna won’t lose the opportunity to put Revanth Reddy’s government to public disgrace.
Both these incidents made it very clear that Nagarjuna is at loggerheads with Revanth Reddy’s government and the rivalry won’t end any time sooner. Quite surprisingly, Nagarjuna met Revanth Reddy today along with the delegation and exchanged pleasantries with him.
Nagarjuna is not doing solo films like other heroes. He was busy with Big Boss Show till recently and completed a multistarrer with Dhanush. Moreover, he is not aggressively producing films under his banner. So, his presence is not at all expected until he made a surprise entry with the delegation.
It is unclear whether Nagarjuna wanted to send a signal that he has no hatred towards the government or whether he attended as an industry bigwig in the absence of Chiranjeevi just to prove that he will come forward and join the cause whenever the film industry is in trouble.
Whatever may be the reason for his attendance, it has become a talking point in the political and industry circles.
