The Andhra Pradesh government has transferred both Visakhapatnam RDO Srilekha and DRO Bhavani Shankar on Monday, following a complaint filed by RDO against DRO alleging corrupt practices. RDO Srilekha recently wrote a letter to the collector alleging that DRO Bhavani Shankar is collecting money from the tehsildar offices.
The government felt awkward after this went viral on social media. Similarly, the collector recently issued a show cause notices to RDO Srilekha in the matter of removing a statue in Pendurthi mandal. It is in the wake of these developments that the government transferred the two. Both were ordered to report to the government’s general administration department.
The government, which ordered the collector to relieve both of them immediately, did not give them any posting. HBCL Land Acquisition Department Deputy Collector S. Vidyasagar has been given the responsibility of Visakhapatnam RDO and Mayura Ashok, who is the Joint Collector of Visakha District, has been given the responsibility of DRO.
On the other hand, there have been differences between Visakha RDO Srilekha and DRO Bhavani Shankar for some time now. At the same time, DRO Srilekha complained to the Collector that DRO Bhavani Shankar was indenting the Tahsildar’s office every month for essential commodities. However, this matter went viral on social media after it was leaked.
On the other hand, RDO Srilekha also recently received a show cause notice from the Collector. Complaints were received against the RDO that the rules were not followed in the matter of removing a statue in Pendurthi. The Collector ordered a probe into this. After this incident, the matter of the letter written by the RDO complaining about the DRO came to light.
Senior officials from Amaravati called and asked for details. The government, which took this matter seriously, transferred both the officials. But, hardly initiated any action against allegations of corruption against DRO. On the other hand, these two officials came to the district on transfer last year. Although things were good at first, it seems that there have been differences in recent times.
