After Jagan, Naidu flies abroad with family

As the anticipation for the much-awaited poll results of assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh keeps building ahead of June 4th, party heads of the YSRCP and Telugu Desam have flown abroad after taking part in intense campaigning for nearly two months. While current Chief Minister and YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy left for a foreign trip on Friday after getting permission from the special CBI court, opposition leader Chandra Babu Naidu also took a break from politics and landed in the USA to seek medical treatment. This development comes at a time when the TDP cadre has been busy making allegations that Jagan Mohan Reddy left India only in fear of defeat.

Reportedly, Naidu boarded the flight on Saturday night from Hyderabad along with his Bhuvaneshwari and left for the USA. He will be staying there for 5 to 6 days before returning to India. He is likely to undergo a medical checkup for his entire body and get treated for minor ailments. His son, Nara Lokesh, has already embarked on a vacation with family and will return to India in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, Jagan Mohan Reddy landed in London along with his wife Bharathi and two daughters. He is expected to tour several cities in Europe and return to Vijayawada on June 1st.

Both the NDA alliance and the YSRCP are oozing with confidence over the election results. While Jagan asserted that YSRCP will win a resounding mandate with over 151 seats, Naidu and Pawan Kalyan stated during their participation in Modi’s nomination last week in Varanasi that the NDA will form the government in Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, political tensions in the state are simmering as post-poll violence rocked some of the districts, like Palnadu, where heavy police personnel have been deployed to bring the situation under control. The results will come out on June 4th, and the ECI is keeping a close vigil on the situation.
