After completing the process of caste census and SC classification, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is said to be getting ready to hold local bodies polls in the middle of the next month. The State Election Commission is reportedly to issue a schedule for the polls anytime after the second week of this month.
Election officials are making arrangements for the release of the schedule. The dedicated commission will submit a report on BC reservations on the 10th of this month. BC and other reservations will be finalized immediately after that. As soon as this process is completed, efforts are being made to issue the election notification.
Plans are being made to conduct the Mandal and Zilla Parishad polling in a single phase as part of the local body elections. Panchayat elections will be held in two phases. Considering the exams, it is expected that the schedule will be to complete the elections by March 17 and 18.
In the ongoing political situation in the state, Chief Minister Revanth’s decision on local elections seems bold. Campaigning is underway for the election dates of 24th of this month and March 3rd and10th. The EC has issued key orders on the training of staff for the election. The orders state that the training should be completed by February 15th.
While training for POs and APOs will be given on the 10th, 12th and 15th of this month, the Collectors have been instructed to appoint staff by the 10th. Orders have been issued to release the voter list for 570 ZPTC and 5817 MPTC seats. The voter list has already been prepared by gram panchayat and ward wise.
The final list of polling stations will be released on the 15th. In the current political situation, the local body elections are becoming interesting. CM Revanth discussed the issue of local body elections with the high command during his visit to Delhi. It is expected that the implementation of the promises along with the caste census will come together.
As Revanth is getting ready for the elections, the BRS has become alert. Along with Revanth, these elections are becoming prestigious for BRS and BJP. With this, the local battle is becoming more politically tense in Telangana in the coming days.
