The Andhra Pradesh government has been contemplating to hand over Mumbai Actress Kadambari Jethwani’s illegal detention and torture case to the CID for further investigation. Orders are likely to be issued in a day or two.

It seems that the case was discussed in a high-level meeting with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. It is known that the police have already arrested the first accused in the case, YCP leader Kukkala Vidyasagar.

As three senior IPS officers were involved, who were named as accused and also suspended already, the government is feeling for a more thorough probe. Moreover, it has links with Mumbai police also.

The then Vijayawada Commissioner of Police Kranti Rana Tata, DCP Vishal Gunni and investigating officer Satyanarayana, who were accused in this case, filed petitions in the High Court for anticipatory bail. Officials advised the government to hand over the case to CID as the case has to be investigated in two states.

According to government sources, the government is taking the advice of legal experts in this regard. After examining the complaint filed by Jethwani, the police identified Kukkala Vidyasagar as the main accused.

Vidyasagar was arrested last month after the police came to know about the case and went on the run. Police arrested Vidyasagar in Dehradun and produced him before Vijayawada 4th ACMM judge. With this, the judge remanded Vidyasagar till October 4.

It has been found that IPS officers PSR Anjaneyulu, Kanti Rana and Vishal Gunni are also key in the same case. The police filed a case under various sections. Also, the government took this matter seriously and suspended these three IPS officers. The government took this decision due to allegations of abuse of power.

Meanwhile, the High Court heard the arguments on Tuesday in the anticipatory bail petitions filed by the police officers in this case and posted the same to Thursday to hear the arguments of Advocate General.
