K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), a former Telangana minister and BRS executive president, has been served summons by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau for interrogation in regard to the irregularities of Formula E-Car racing event allegedly involved during the erstwhile BRS government. It has called him on 6th of this month to which he would attend despite him obtaining a stay in the High Court to evade his arrest for time being. However, KTR is still required to participate in the ACB’s investigation process.
The ACB had already registered a case concerning the alleged irregularities in the Formula E-Car racing events and has collected significant evidence. KTR, who had approached the High Court to prevent his arrest, must now face the ACB’s questioning as per the latest summons. The inquiry is scheduled to take place at the ACB office on the morning of the 6th.
The investigation is focused on violations related to the agreement made by the BRS government with the London-based Formula E-Car organization. Allegations include the formation of a management committee for the car race event before the formal agreement and the failure of HUDA official Aravind Kumar to obtain the necessary government approval for releasing funds related to the Formula 9 season.
In addition to the ACB investigation, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a separate summons for KTR, requesting his appearance on the 7th of this month. As a result, KTR is expected to appear for the ACB inquiry on the 6th and then face the ED’s questioning on the 7th. It remains to be seen whether KTR will comply with both summonses or take further legal action. The ED will likely conduct its questioning based on the evidence gathered by the ACB, which could lead to further scrutiny of KTR’s involvement in the case.
