Former Deputy Collector of Madanapalle M.S. Murali’s massive corruption has been exposed in ACB raids. The ACB inspections that began on Saturday on the assets he amassed through illegal means continued till Sunday. ACB officials seized one kilo of gold, 800 grams of silver and 33 documents related to the assets from Murali’s residence.

Similarly, it is known that seven houses, a hotel and 12 plots of land along with accounts in 20 banks have been identified. According to the market prices, the value of these assets is estimated to be around Rs. 150 crores.

After the inspections were completed, the ACB officials arrested Deputy Collector Murali on Sunday and took him to the ACB special court in Nellore to be produced. It is known that Murali was suspended after the fire incident in the Madanapalle RDO office some time ago, in which crucial files were burnt.

The CID officials are investigating this case. On the other hand, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) stepped in after the government received complaints that Murali had assets beyond his income. In this context, ACB officials formed teams and conducted inspections in Tirupati, Chittoor, V. Kota, Palamaneru, Madanapalle, Kadapa, Nellore and other places on Saturday and Sunday.

In addition to Murali’s residences in Tirupati and V. Kota, searches were also conducted at the residences of his relatives, friends and people suspected of being benami. The ACB found that up to 80 percent of the illegal assets accumulated by Murali were registered in the names of benamis.

The officials found that Murali had accumulated illegal assets wherever he worked. It was found that the agricultural lands are located in V. Kota, Palamaneru, Chittoor Rural, Bangarupalyam, Nellore, and Tirupati vicinity, and there are houses in Oteru, Palamaneru, and Madanapalle in Tirupati.

Also, the officials have concluded that there are vacant plots in M.K. Naidu Colony, Madanapalle, V. Kota, Kadapa, Nellore, Ongole, and Palamaner in Tirupati. The officials have seized two documents related to the hotel run by the family of the Deputy Collector in Tirupati. One of them is in the name of Murali and the other is in the name of his family.

In fact, Murali himself purchased the hotel land directly in his name, while the second document, which states that it was purchased in the name of his family, is believed to be fake.
