The ACB Court has allowed YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy, the key accused in the sensational AP Liquor Scam, petition seeking special facilities in Rajahmundry Central Prison, where now he is remanded in the case.

Rajahmundry Central Jail DSP Venkateswarlu told the court that they are making arrangements to provide all facilities to the accused as per the Supreme Court rules. After hearing the arguments, the court allowed Mithun Reddy to bring a bed, pillow, blanket, paper, pen, TV, and food from outside.

However, it said that those providing food should give an undertaking letter. Similarly, it said that water bottles, western commode, and cooler should be allowed. It ordered that the accused should bear the cost of these. The court said that Mithun Reddy should be provided with the medical facilities available in the jail.

The Court directed the jail authorities to provide medical facilities from outside if necessary. The Vijayawada ACB court has issued orders allowing lawyers to meet the accused three times a week and relatives twice a week. On the other hand, it is known that the court has ordered judicial remand of Mithun Reddy till August 1.

It may be recalled that the SIT investigation has confirmed that Peddireddy Mithun Reddy is the mastermind in the liquor scam that took place during the YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime. It has been said that he created a hawala network with Raj Kasireddy to collect bribes from distilleries and supply companies.

It concluded that he played a key role in transferring the amounts collected by them to Bigg Boss. It was also alleged that he resorted to exploitation under the guise of the new liquor policy as per the orders of Bigg Boss.

The SIT revealed that Mithun Reddy not only profited by taking over several distilleries and making their own brands of liquor, but also received a share of Rs. 5 crore every month in the bribe money. In this context, the SIT arrested him and is currently in remand. Mithun Reddy is the first public representative to be arrested in this case.
