Assembly Petitions Committee Chairman Raghurama Krishnam Raju announced that a law amendment bill will be introduced in the upcoming legislative sessions to further strengthen the existing law to crack down on cyber crimes. He said that this was discussed in detail in the Legislative Petitions Committee meeting held with the secretaries of the Home and IT departments to formulate a strong law.

He held this meeting along with committee members Konatala Ramakrishna, Palla Srinivasa Rao, P Vishnu Kumar Raju and Gurajala Jaganmohan. Raghurama said that CM Chandrababu Naidu has already issued several orders to take strong steps to control cyber crimes in the state, and the Assembly Petitions Committee has also paid special attention to this issue.

He deplored that many innocent people in the state are being cheated by betting apps and loan apps, and only 4 percent of cases are being registered in this regard. Reports from last year say that a total of Rs. 960 crores were defrauded, of which Rs. 300 crores were recovered.

Raghurama said that cyber crimes are being committed annually to the tune of about Rs. 30,000 crores. He said that there is currently no possibility of filing cases against those who create fraudulent apps or those who load them into systems, which is why they will amend it and bring a new law. He said that his committee will soon submit a comprehensive report on this to the Speaker.

Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju called on film stars and celebrities, who have been campaigning so far to stop betting apps, to campaign against them. He said that steps are being taken to ensure that cyber crimes are registered immediately after calling the 1930 toll-free number. He said that this toll-free number can also be called on betting apps.

It was revealed that this toll-free number will be available 24 hours a day under the CID. It was clarified that the petition committee is working towards curbing cyber crimes as much as possible in the coming year. He said that the campaign on the 1930 toll-free number will also be expanded through the Manamitra WhatsApp number managed by the state government. Petitions Committee member Palla Srinivasa Rao suggested that people should be vigilant about the attractive links.
